    Reckitt DARE 2026  ·  Complete Guide  ·  Fast-Track Internship

A direct fast-track to a Reckitt summer internship,
without competing with the rest of India.

Reckitt DARE 2026 has just opened. This is your complete preparation guide.

    Reckitt, the company behind half
    your bathroom shelf

Reckitt is a global FMCG and consumer health major headquartered in the UK, with a portfolio that includes Dettol, Harpic, Durex, Strepsils, Veet, Lizol, Mortein, Enfamil, Nurofen and more. In India, Reckitt is one of the most aggressive recruiters at the top business schools, with a long history of building general managers and brand leaders through its summer internship programme.

Reckitt runs several distinct programmes for MBA students globally. The Reckitt Global Case Challenge is its public, worldwide case competition. Reckitt DARE 2026 is something different. It is the India campus competition, run only at 11 select institutes, and is essentially the rebranded version of Reckitt Career Compass, the campus programme Reckitt launched last year. The format, the stages, the campus list, and the core idea have stayed the same. The branding has changed, and the journey is now positioned as a more deliberate fast-track to a Reckitt internship across functional tracks.

    What DARE means in practice,
and why it is unusually rewarding

The thinking behind DARE is straightforward. Most FMCG flagship competitions test you against tens of thousands of students nationally. The shortlist conversion rate is brutal, and even strong candidates routinely miss out because the funnel is so narrow. Reckitt has gone in the opposite direction. They pick 11 institutes they actively recruit from, open the competition only to first-year students there, and structure it as a per-campus shortlist. Your direct competition is your own batch. The business simulation round is a single, well-defined gate. Clear it, and you are in serious contention for an internship fast-track in the function you chose at the start.

If you are at one of the 11 eligible campuses, you should treat DARE as one of the highest expected-value FMCG competitions of the season. The effort-to-outcome ratio is genuinely favourable in a way that the larger national competitions are not.

    Where DARE 2026
    is actually running

Reckitt DARE 2026 is open exclusively to first-year MBA students at the following 11 institutes. There are no open-to-all rounds. If your campus is not on this list, you are not eligible this year.

    IIM Bangalore
    IIM Calcutta
    IIM Kozhikode
    IIM Lucknow
    IIM Mumbai
    XLRI Jamshedpur
    SPJIMR Mumbai
    FMS Delhi
    MDI Gurgaon
    DoMS IIT Delhi
    TISS Mumbai

This is broadly the same campus list that ran the Reckitt Career Compass programme last year, with the same focus on the institutes where Reckitt actively builds its India leadership pipeline. Each campus runs its own shortlist independently, so your benchmark is your batch, not the country.

    1
    Stage 1
    Registration and functional track
You register individually on InsideKampus, apply the company filter as Reckitt, and sign up through your college portal post. At the time of registration, you choose your functional track, Sales, Sales Marketing, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance or HR depending on what is offered at your campus. The track you pick determines the role you are evaluated for, so do not pick it casually.
Pick the functional track that genuinely matches your CV, your past internship and your placement goal. Reckitt evaluates fit, not enthusiasm. A clear, consistent functional story across CV, simulation choices and interview is what advances.
    2
    Stage 1.1 (optional)
Reckitt Save the Day, LinkedIn engagement task
An optional but high-leverage round. You recreate a nostalgic memory associated with a Reckitt brand (Dettol, Harpic, Strepsils, Durex, Veet and similar), bring it to life with AI-generated visuals, post it on LinkedIn and tag Reckitt. The most engaging posts win exclusive Reckitt products and goodies, and more importantly, an advantage in the subsequent rounds.
Even if the prizes look small, this is a free way to put yourself on Reckitt's radar before the simulation. Keep the post professional, brand-respectful, and clearly tied to a real Reckitt brand memory. Avoid anything that mocks the brand.
    3
Stage 2 · The core of the competition
Business Simulation, evaluate tradeoffs and make decisions
This is the round where DARE is actually won or lost. You run a virtual FMCG business on the platform, take a sequence of business decisions across pricing, distribution, marketing spend, channel mix, hiring and supply chain. Every decision feeds the next period. The interface and the broad design mirror what Reckitt Career Compass ran last year, the look has been refreshed for DARE but the underlying simulation logic and the kinds of tradeoffs being tested are extremely similar.
Treat this round as a multi-period FMCG management game, not a single quiz. Your score is cumulative. Read every screen before you act, do not optimise one period at the expense of the next.
    4
    Stage 3 · Per-campus shortlist
Final shortlisting, profile plus simulation performance
Reckitt combines your profile (CV, work experience, functional fit) with your business simulation score to build the campus shortlist. Strong profiles with average simulation scores often miss out, and average profiles with strong simulation runs often advance. Both inputs matter, and the simulation is the lever you can move most in the short term.
Update your CV before you register, not after. Make sure your work experience and any prior internships clearly support the functional track you chose. Recruiters cross-read CV and simulation in the same sitting.
    5
    Stage 4
    Personal Interviews with Reckitt leaders
Shortlisted candidates are interviewed by Reckitt business and HR leaders, typically over video or in person on campus. The conversation covers your functional track, your simulation decisions, your CV, and a few situational and behavioural questions. Final selections from this round get the fast-track ticket to the Reckitt summer internship.
Re-open your simulation decisions before the interview. Be ready to explain, in one clear sentence each, why you chose the pricing, channel and spend levels you did. Vague reasoning here is the most common reason strong candidates miss the final cut.
    6
    Bonus round
Sales Immersion Experience (Sales and Sales Marketing only)
Shortlisted Sales and Sales Marketing candidates get an exclusive 1-day offline immersion experience with Reckitt. You spend the day on a market visit, observe real FMCG execution at the retailer end, and learn how Reckitt's distribution and retailer excellence playbook works in practice. You also get to interact with business leaders directly.
This is a working day, not a campus tour. Carry a notebook, ask questions about route-to-market, retailer profitability, and how decisions taken at the brand team show up at the kirana shelf. The leaders you meet here often recall you in the interview round.

    What the DARE business simulation
    actually tests

Because DARE is essentially the rebranded Reckitt Career Compass, the simulation builds on the same core design that students went through last year. You play the role of a brand or category manager running a Reckitt-style FMCG business over multiple decision periods. Each period you take a set of interlinked decisions, see the financial and market results, and then take the next set of decisions with that new context. Across past Reckitt and Reckitt-style FMCG simulations, the following five dimensions have consistently been the levers being measured.

    💰
    Pricing and revenue strategy
You set prices across SKUs or brands knowing demand elasticity, competitor pricing, and trade margins are all moving in the background. Aggressive price cuts can win short-term volume but compress margins for the rest of the simulation. Premium pricing protects margin but risks losing share if not paired with the right marketing and distribution spend.
    📦
    Distribution and channel mix
Decisions on general trade, modern trade, e-commerce, rural reach and direct-to-consumer all carry different cost structures and payback periods. The simulation rewards a channel mix that fits the brand profile you are managing, not the channel mix that looks the most modern. Over-investing in e-commerce for a high-frequency mass brand, or under-investing in general trade for a heritage Reckitt product, is a classic trap.
    📢
    Marketing and ATL/BTL spend allocation
You allocate a finite marketing budget across television, digital, retail visibility, sampling, and promotions. The simulation tracks brand health metrics alongside sales numbers. Spending only on promotions can deliver sales in the current period but erode brand equity that hurts pricing power later. Spending only on brand-building without any conversion-focused spend leaves volume on the table.
    🏭
    Supply chain and inventory tradeoffs
You take calls on production planning, inventory holding and SKU rationalisation. Stocking out kills the trust score with trade partners. Over-producing locks working capital and forces discount-led clearances. The discipline being tested is matching supply tightly to your own demand plan, not chasing the previous period's surprises.
    👥
    Talent, structure and capability investment
Past Reckitt-style simulations have included an explicit people and capability lever, choices on hiring, training spend and team structure. These look soft compared to pricing or distribution but consistently show up as the differentiator in cumulative scoring, because capability decisions compound over periods in a way single-period spends do not.
Important note, based on Reckitt Career Compass

Everything described above is built on what students reported from the 2025 Reckitt Career Compass simulation, plus the broad design of similar Reckitt FMCG simulations that have run on Indian campuses. Reckitt and the platform partner have the freedom to evolve or change the simulation format for DARE 2026, the specific brand, the SKU set, the number of decision periods or the metric weighting could all be different this year.

Do not panic if the screens look different from what you read here. The underlying thing being tested, your ability to make commercial tradeoffs across pricing, distribution, marketing, supply chain and people, will remain the same. Read every instruction carefully before you begin, adapt your mental model to whatever format is shown, and stay calm. The format may change, the FMCG fundamentals do not.

    Eight things to do before
    you start the simulation

    1
Refresh your FMCG basics, not your case frameworks
DARE is a numbers and tradeoffs game, not a problem-solving slide deck. Spend an evening revising P&L structure for an FMCG business, gross margin, contribution margin, trade spend, A&P, the difference between primary, secondary and tertiary sales, and how channel margins typically stack across general trade, modern trade and e-commerce. This will pay off in every decision you make in the simulation.
    2
Pick the right functional track and own it
Your functional track choice runs through the entire competition. Pick the one your CV, past internships and placement preference actually support. Switching narratives between rounds is the easiest way to confuse the panel and lose a shortlist you were otherwise on.
    3
Read every screen before you click anything
The first instinct in a timed simulation is to start moving levers. Resist it. Take the first few minutes to read every dashboard, the demand assumptions, the competitor data, and the constraints. Students who understand the rules before they play consistently outperform faster but less careful candidates.
    4
Decide your strategy in one sentence first
Before you take any pricing or distribution call, write down in one sentence what you are optimising for this period, share, margin, brand health, or working capital. Every lever you move that period should serve that one objective. This is also the structure that wins the interview round.
    5
Track every decision and the reasoning
Keep a running log of the decisions you take, the data you took them on, and the result you saw. This serves three purposes, it forces you to think before you click, it stops you from forgetting why you did something two periods ago, and it becomes your interview prep document if you advance.
    6
Do the Reckitt Save the Day post even if you do not feel like it
It is optional. It is also free upside. Even an average post on LinkedIn tagged correctly puts your name in front of the Reckitt brand team before the simulation. Skipping it is a small mistake that compounds at the shortlist stage.
    7
Tighten your CV before the shortlist, not after
Reckitt combines profile and simulation score for the shortlist. The simulation is one input you can change, your CV is the other. Make sure your CV clearly tells a Reckitt-aligned story for the functional track you chose, with the right keywords for FMCG, brand, sales, supply chain or finance roles.
    8
Prepare three stories for the interview
Three crisp stories, one about a commercial decision you took or analysed, one about a leadership or stakeholder moment, and one about a time something went wrong and what you did. These cover most of what Reckitt asks. Tie at least one of them back to a clear decision you took inside the simulation.

    Why DARE deserves a different
    level of attention from you

Most students at the eligible campuses are also preparing for Coca-Cola Mantra, Marico Level Up, and the larger national FMCG case competitions. DARE sits in a very different category and should be prepared for differently.

Mantra and Level Up are national, open, and convert a tiny percentage of registrants. The simulations are designed to filter at scale. DARE is per-campus, restricted to 11 institutes, and is essentially a structured assessment process Reckitt uses to spot and fast-track internship candidates inside its existing recruiting pool. The barrier to a shortlist is lower in pure odds, but the bar inside the funnel is sharper, the people reading your simulation results and CV are the same people who will potentially intern you and later hire you. Treat the entire process as a multi-week interview with Reckitt, not as a competition entry.

    Where to practice
    before the simulation goes live

    Recommended practice resources

Past Reckitt Career Compass write-ups: Search "Reckitt Career Compass simulation" on LinkedIn and on InsideIIM. Several first-year students from last year have shared their experience of the simulation. The brand and the screens may have been refreshed for DARE, but the decision categories are the most reliable preview of what to expect.

Marketing simulation primers: Harvard Business Publishing has free FMCG and marketing simulation overviews on hbsp.harvard.edu. Even the demo run-throughs build the right instinct for multi-period decision games.

Reckitt annual report and brand strategy: Read the latest Reckitt annual report, especially the sections on portfolio strategy, brand health and channel mix in emerging markets. Understanding how Reckitt actually thinks about its categories will sharpen both your simulation choices and your interview answers.

Indian FMCG channel basics: A short refresher on general trade vs modern trade vs e-commerce economics in India, margin stacks, distributor and retailer profitability, and route-to-market structures. The Nielsen and Bain India FMCG reports are good free reads.

    • ✦ 2-round CV optimisation and 1:1 mentorship, so your profile matches the functional track you are applying to
    • ✦ Domain case projects that convert into verified CV pointers you can defend in an interview

DARE is unusual among FMCG competitions because it does not really reward the most creative student or the flashiest deck. It rewards the student who shows up like a real Reckitt manager already, makes calm, defendable commercial tradeoffs in the simulation, picks a functional track they can actually back with their CV, and walks into the interview able to explain every important decision in one clean sentence.

If you go in with that frame, your odds at your own campus are genuinely good. Register, do the LinkedIn task, take the simulation seriously, keep notes, and the rest takes care of itself.
