    For Incoming MBA Students

    You got in.
    Now the real
    game begins.

Congratulations on your admit. Seriously, it's a big deal. But here's something nobody tells you in those celebratory moments: the gap between students who thrive in MBA and those who struggle usually forms before classes even begin. And it has everything to do with one thing most people have never heard of.

What even is a case competition?

If you're a fresh admit and this term is new to you, you're not alone. Most students walk into their first semester without ever encountering one. Here's the simplest way to understand it.

A case competition is where companies, think Flipkart, Amazon, HUL, ITC, Meesho, Nestlé, Reckitt, bring real business problems to MBA students and say: "Here's our challenge. Solve it. Present it. Win."

Teams of 2 to 4 students get a problem statement, a deadline, and a blank slide deck. They have to research, structure a solution, build a compelling presentation, and pitch it to industry judges. The best teams go national. Some win prize money. Many land PPIs, that's a Pre-Placement Interview, a direct invite to interview for a full-time job, straight from the competition.

"It's not just about solving a problem. It's about thinking like a consultant, presenting like an executive, and competing against the best students in India."

Case competitions run throughout both years of your MBA, but the peak season, when the biggest companies launch their competitions, hits hard in the first year. August through October is when most of the action happens. And the students who show up prepared in August are the ones walking away with shortlists, PPIs, and national finalist tags by November.

Why do they matter so much?

Let us be direct about this because it's genuinely important. Case competitions aren't just extracurriculars you add to your resume. They compound.

When a recruiter sits across from two equally-decent candidates in a placement interview and one of them casually says "I was a national finalist at Flipkart Wired" or "our team won the Amazon Ace competition", that's not just a line. It signals business acumen, structured thinking, the ability to work under pressure, and the courage to compete. None of that can be faked.

Beyond placements, competing forces you to learn frameworks you'd otherwise only read about. MECE thinking. TAM-SAM-SOM analysis. GTM strategy. P&L structuring. You apply them to a real business problem with a real deadline, that sticks in a way no lecture ever will.

    Most students show up
    and wing it.

    And it shows.

Your first case competition arrives, you download the problem statement, you and your teammate scramble to build something in 48 hours. The slide deck looks okay. The logic has gaps. You submit, never hear back, and move on.

Meanwhile, the team that won? They'd been practicing. Not in class, on their own time. They'd solved practice cases before, understood how judges think, knew how to structure an insight-driven recommendation on a slide instead of a wall of text. They didn't get lucky. They got ready.

This is the unfair advantage that compounds the hardest in MBA. Students who start early don't just win more competitions, they become more confident, more articulate, more capable of handling any business problem thrown at them. By the time SIP season hits, their entire positioning looks different from peers who woke up to the opportunity too late.

    This is why AceMBA exists

AceMBA was built specifically for students like you, incoming MBAs who are ambitious, aware that they need to perform, but haven't had the structure or guidance to start. We're not here to teach theory. We're here to make you competition-ready, placement-ready, and corporate-ready, from day one.

Rated 4.9/5 from 400+ reviews. Trusted by students at IIM Lucknow, IIM Bangalore, SPJIMR, IIM Ranchi, IIM Kashipur, and 30+ more colleges.

Practice Case Challenges, learn by doing

We know you're pre-enrollment. You haven't attended a single class yet. Maybe you're still wrapping up work or sitting in the middle of summer before everything changes. This is exactly the right time to get a head start, but not with theory. With actual practice.

Practice Case Challenges are an exclusive series inside the AceMBA community where you solve real problem statements from actual national competitions, the same cases that were given to MBA students last season at companies like Flipkart and Meesho. You attempt them on your own (or with a team), submit your solution, and then, this is the part that makes all the difference, watch how a national winner actually approached and solved it.

Not a lecture on "how to solve cases." A real walkthrough, by a real winner (or the actual case creator), of exactly how a winning solution thinks, structures, and presents.

"Won case competition and got SIP from ITC. The way you'll helped me constantly throughout the process. Really grateful."

How does a practice challenge work?

Each challenge runs on a structured format inside the AceMBA community platform (nas.io/acemba). Here's exactly what happens:

    1
Decide if you're going solo or forming a team, then register

Every Practice Case Challenge specifies the format upfront. Some are solo, you work alone and submit individually. Others are team-based, where you compete in a group of 2 to 4 members. Both formats are equally valid, and over time you'll find yourself doing both.

If it's a team challenge, start by forming your group. Here's the good part, cross-college and cross-year teams are allowed. You don't need to wait until you're on campus, and your teammates don't need to be from the same college. Reach out to friends from other b-schools, people you've met online, or members right here in the AceMBA community. Building your first team before college starts is actually a great move.

For team challenges, a separate Google Form is shared to collect team details, team name, leader information, and member names. Only the team leader needs to fill this form. Once that's done, every team member must still individually join and participate inside the challenge on the platform. Registration and participation are two separate things, don't skip either.

    Engage on the feed

Once submissions are live, head to the challenge feed and explore what other teams built. React to approaches you find interesting. Drop a real comment, ask a question, point out something you liked, share your thinking. Every reaction and comment your own post receives adds to your total score. The leaderboard is live.

Watch the expert breakdown, this is the real learning

After the submission deadline closes, the expert walkthrough video unlocks inside the challenge. This is where most students have their biggest "aha" moment. For some challenges, this is presented by an AceMBA mentor who has won at the national level. For others, it could be the actual case creator from the competition itself, someone who knows exactly what the judges were looking for, what made submissions stand out, and where most students went wrong.

Watch it with your submission open on the side. Compare your thinking slide by slide. Notice where your structure held up and where it drifted. The goal isn't to feel bad about what you missed, it's to internalize the thinking pattern of someone who wins. That pattern, practiced repeatedly, is what makes you competition-ready.

The video is password-protected inside the community. The password is shared within the challenge, it's always acemba.in.

Winners and participants get rewarded, for real

We believe that showing up and doing the work deserves recognition. Every Practice Case Challenge comes with rewards for both participants and winners. All participants who complete the challenge get exclusive AceMBA vouchers. Top performers on the leaderboard win bigger, including full AceCase Pro course access (worth ₹10,000) and other AceMBA program rewards.

These rewards are our way of keeping you motivated and making participation genuinely worthwhile, not just educationally, but tangibly. The more seriously you engage, the more you gain.

    A quick note on this

These are Practice Case Challenges run independently by AceMBA. The problem statements are sourced from last season's publicly run competitions for learning purposes. AceMBA is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any of the companies whose cases are used. These challenges are purely for your learning and preparation, and we're proud to say we're the first and only MBA community in India bringing this kind of structured practice to students before they even set foot on campus.

    Examples from our challenge series

To give you a feel for the kind of cases we run, here are examples from our ongoing Practice Case Challenge series. Each challenge is different in format, company, and theme, but all follow the same core structure described above.

    Example, Solo Format
    Flipkart Wired, Business
Solo · Always open · Attempt at your own pace · No team needed
    Always available
    Example, Team Format
    Meesho DICE, Strategy
    Team of 2 to 4 · Fixed dates · Logistics & ops · Leaderboard
    Time-bound

The Flipkart Wired challenge is a solo, always-on case, you can jump in whenever you're ready and go at your own pace. The Meesho DICE challenge is team-based, runs on fixed dates, and is built around Meesho's Valmo initiative, a real internal project around building a low-cost logistics network through local delivery entrepreneurs. That kind of case is directly relevant for anyone targeting competitions from Flipkart, Amazon, Swiggy, or any ops-heavy company.

New challenges are added regularly inside the community, each based on a different company and problem type. Check nas.io/acemba for what's currently live.

Because early reps are the biggest advantage in MBA

Here's a pattern we've seen consistently across the students we've worked with at AceMBA. The ones who start building case-solving intuition before Term 1, even imperfectly, even without formal training, show up to campus with a different kind of confidence. They've already done the uncomfortable thing of building a deck under pressure. They've already seen how a national winner thinks. They've already gotten feedback.

By the time their peers are hearing "you should try case competitions" from a senior in September, these students are already in their third or fourth competition. That compounding is real, and it's hard to close once it opens.

Practice Case Challenges are free. They're designed for your exact stage, you don't need to be on campus, you don't need to know anything going in. You just need to attempt. The orientation video handles the rest.

"My team has been shortlisted as one of the Top 10 National Finalists for GE Healthcare ThinkAloud case competition. My case competition participation became the talk of the PI."

    This is just the warm-up

Practice Case Challenges are your entry point. They're free, they're open, and they're genuinely useful. But they're also a preview of what structured, guided preparation looks like.

AceMBA's full programs, AceCase Pro and AcePrep, take this much further. AceCase Pro is a comprehensive end-to-end program covering 15+ sessions from zero to advanced, 20+ real case breakdown practices (Flipkart, Reliance, Asian Paints, and more), personalized deck reviews, a full winning toolkit of 30+ resources, and live national winner walkthroughs. It's built for students who don't want to figure it out by trial and error. It's the shortcut that doesn't cut corners.

But start here. Attempt the practice challenge. Watch the breakdown. See how your thinking stacks up. That's step one.
